This Mosasaur Tooth with Root features a large, high-grade fossil from a Mosasaurus beaugei. This species is the largest of six known in the Maastrichtian phosphates of the Ganntour Basin (Morocco). The tooth is perfect, making it ideal for fossil hunters. Mosasaurs, extinct large marine reptiles, first appeared in the Cretaceous, likely evolving from aigialosaurs. During the last 20 million years of the Cretaceous, they became the apex predators of the seas, replacing the ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs.
