Agatized Bamboo from Java, Indonesia
From Java, Indonesia
Agatized Bamboo also known as "fossil bamboo" is the result of bamboo plants being covered by volcanic ash with agate then coating the stems. The specimen is from Jawa Island (Java Island), Indonesia. Through the centuries, the masses agatized into these hollow finger-like formations. They are hollow inside because the organic material decomposed over the years, leaving only the carbonate masses.
This specimen is in pristine condition, no nicks or damage. Rare and large specimen.
